I will do all I can to get my kids in an actual, real classroom environment when it's time for them to learn. But I think the descent from trooper-enforced actual Driver's Ed to little-old-lady DPS testing, to now parent-taught driving, has to be at least partly to blame. Adding in cell phones and in-dash video players and GPSs isn't going to help either.
Rules of the road are widely ignored or not even known by many, and driver courtesy is becoming a rarity.
Kids drive poorly enough as it is if you insist on teaching them yourselves, why wouldn't you want to test them in every way conceivable before turning them loose on the streets?ĭriving behavior has gotten worse and worse over the years.
